REVIEW - P.S. I Hate You by Winter Renshaw

The Book
Release Date: 26 March 2018
Goodreads Link

Dear Isaiah,

Eight months ago, you were just a soldier about to be deployed and I was just a waitress, sneaking you a free pancake and hoping you wouldn’t notice that my gaze was lingering a little too long.

But you did notice.

We spent one life-changing week together before you left, and we said goodbye on day eight, exchanging addresses at the last minute.

I saved every letter you wrote me, your words quickly becoming my religion.

But you went radio silent on me months ago, and then you had the audacity to walk into my diner yesterday and act like you’d never seen me in your life.

To think … I almost loved you and your beautifully complicated soul.

Almost.

Whatever your reason is—I hope it’s a good one.

Maritza the Waitress

PS – I hate you, and this time … I mean it.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: For a *limited time* the eBook version of P.S. I HATE YOU includes two bonus novels (ABSINTHE and DARK PROMISES). Rest assured P.S. I HATE YOU is still a full-length (~70k word) novel even though it might end around 33% on your device.

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

In some ways this was actually a sweet book.  We have the grandchild of a world renowned star along with a military man who has, as most people, some baggage along for the ride.

Maritza was a happy character who always says her mind and speaks with complete honesty.  Her grandmother  was a star, however makes her pay rent in order to live in the pool house with her cousin Melrose.

Isaiah Torres is a corporal back home for a week before he is back on deployment and after meeting in the cafe where she works and an unfortunate motor incident, they agree to spend the next 9 days together as friends before he ships off.

We get to see some of the letters written between Isaiah and Maritza when he is overseas and we also get the after when he comes back.

The part where he comes back does feel a little rushed, however we do get a happy ever after and comeuppance for a baddy.

I would gladly read more from this author.

REVIEW - Blue Sky (Blue Devils Book 1) by Alana Albertson

The Book
Release Date: 26 March 2018
Goodreads Link

Don’t sleep with the nanny.

The one rule I swore to myself that I would obey. As a United States Naval Officer and a pilot for the world famous Blue Angels, I always play by the rules.

Hell, I make the rules.

And I never break them

Until I meet Paloma.

I can’t ignore how she makes me feel alive again after I was certain that my heart was closed to love.
We have nothing in common besides our love for my daughter.

I’m rich; she’s poor.

I’m her boss; she’s my employee.

I’m dead inside; she’s full of life.

Despite our differences, I let lust control my actions and kiss her like it’s the last night of the world.

Which it is, because our passionate kiss has changed my life forever.

I may be a Blue Angel, but she has woken the devil inside.

And I’ll do anything to make her mine.

Alana Albertson brings you an emotional love story between a widowed Blue Angel pilot and the one woman who is forbidden to him—his baby’s nanny.

Blue Sky is an epic standalone, slow burn, ugly cry romance. For a limited time, I have included some bonus books.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Although i liked this book, there were far too many mentions of the dead wife and that Beck was not ready to move on, though he blatantly did with Paloma.

The Spanish in the book was nice, however not necessary as there was also the english translation, it was also nice to see a little more about the American-Mexican people as where i live there is none of that.

Paloma was great with Sky, some people are just good with kids and Paloma's sisters certainly acted their age, but didn't seem to care that they were being uprooted by Paloma like they were.

There were a few inconsistencies in the book, so it could probably do with another edit, for example Paloma left the house and Beck went for a shower with no mention of where the baby was.

A good story marred by a few things and the fact that it ended at 66% on my kindle as there was another free book at the end, but i did enjoy it.

This book is the first is a spinoff series of the Tea For Two series and this book focuses on Jill who we met in the last Tea For Two book.

Jill is quirky, smart and a little bit of a geek, but she has a big heart.  Lucus had a life changing event and has since changed his entire life and has found himself invited to live with a college friend for a while.  It is her that he meets Jill and they hit it off.

However one is looking for their forever partner and the other is just looking for the here and now.

In this book we also meet Jill's best friends Michelle and Chloe who i can imagine the next books are going to be for, and they come across and really supportive and lovable.

Jill and Lucas make a good couple and it is only near the end that we find out what sent Lucas on a life changing road.

Really looking forward to reading the next books in the series.

This is the second and last part to Aster's story with Damon, Finn and Rake and BOY did the authors turn up the heat.  Seriously, it was seriously HOT!!

Aster has a naughty demon and a naughty witch to catch along with a naughty cousin, but we already knew that.

We get points of view from all our main characters along with great chemistry, lots of heat and a really satisfying ending.  However i could have kept on reading and reading more from these awesome characters, even if it meant changing my panties lol.

All the men have different qualities that make this foursome better and each bring something different to Aster and their relationship as a four.  The bond they share and bring Aster into is strong and solid.

I would certainly read more of this kind of work by these authors again in a heart beat.

REVIEW - Like a Boss by Lili Valente

The Book
Release Date: 29 March 2018

I’m one puff piece away from tearing up my journalism degree and hurling my laptop into the Hudson River. So when I smell a juicy story brewing at my brother’s Wall Street investment firm, I’ll do whatever it takes to get my scoop.

One clever disguise later, I’m deep undercover as the firm’s newest broker, simultaneously gathering intel and spouting off stock tips like a boss.

Go me, right?

Sure, it sounds good on paper, but there’s a catch: the actual boss.

Chief Executive Panty-melter Jack Holt is cocky. Infuriating. And one smoldering look has me ready to violate every rule in the employee handbook.

Thank God my assignment has an expiration date. Because falling for my brother’s best friend and business partner is a lose-lose proposition. Right?

***

In the market for a hot tip? Here’s one.

Don’t bang your best friend’s little sister. Especially when she’s an investigative journalist and your company is the target of her latest exposé.

Unfortunately, I’ve got a hard-on for high-risk bets, and I’m more than eager to invest my considerable stock holdings in Ellie Seyfried’s…ahem…glorious assets.

Friends with fringe benefits is a sweet deal, but it’s not long before I’m falling harder than the post-bubble Nasdaq, hooked on Ellie’s sweet smile and determination to make the world a better place.

There’s only one problem…

When it comes to risking my money, I’ve mastered every trick in the book. But how the hell do I risk my heart?

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This book is a collaboration between two authors that i really love to read and it was everything i wanted and more.

Jack is the alpha male in charge of a brokerage with Eleanors brother and has known Ellie for years and Ellie wants a story that will take her away from writing puff pieces.

Eli is a strong woman with a nose for a story and for a mystery and there is certainly something  at this brokerage that piques her interest other than Jack.

The chemistry is hot and there is not much of the pushing away before they both submit to the chemistry between them.  There is a little mystery and twist of the plot that keeps you wrapped into the story and i can't wait to see if these two authors will collaborate together again.

Fingers crossed here!

REVIEW - Torrid Little Affair (Forbidden Desires #3) by Kendall Ryan

The Book
Release Date: 11 December 2017
Goodreads Link

The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else. And I have the perfect candidate all picked out.

My new assistant is tempting beyond belief with her curvy body and take-no-shit attitude. All those luscious curves, and a juicy ass I’m already in love with. God, the things that I would do to that ass…

But it’s the haunted look in her eyes that speaks to me. Like she’s taken just as much shit in her past as I have—maybe more. We both deserve a little fun.

Love can’t fix everything. Mind-blowing sex and a few killer orgasms, on the other hand?

I have a feeling those might do the trick.

This is book three in the Forbidden Desires series, and while it can be read as a standalone, it’s recommended you start with Dirty Little Secret.

My Review  5 STARS
This is book three in the series but can easily be read as a stand alone book, however to get the background on Emma and Gavin i would still recommend that you read the first two books.

Ben has had his heart broken and now finds himself back in the office after months away trying to get himself together only to find that Quinn and Gavin have hired him a new helper who he finds fascinating.  He hopes after a misunderstanding that he can help her with her problem and she can help him with his.

Corinne is shish to begin with, but under Coopers wing she begins to flourish and become more secure in herself, however she holds a secret that could tear them apart.

Upon finding out her secret, Cooper, after a brief fall apart is helped by his close brothers into seeing the bigger picture and pulls up his big man panties and shows Corinne that there is another way around her situation, and the Cooper has the biggest heart and loves unconditionally.

I really look forward to reading Quinn's book which his next.  Can't wait for the oldest brother to finally get his happy ever after.

This is book two in the series, following Dirty Little Secret.

My Review  5 STARS
This book is a continuation of book one and is the story of Emma Bell and Gavin Kingsley.  It starts where book one left off with a cliff hanger and all the questions that we had left from book one are finally answered.

Ben and Gavin are still looking for Emma to return their feelings and Quinn steps in to make Emma let her choice be known once and for all, hurting one man.

We find out who Emma's stalker is and we get to see two people grow from what they were into to happy people getting something they never thought they could ever have, a happy ever after.

I'm really looking forward to book three and the stand alone story of another Quinn brother.

REVIEW - Night Magic: A Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance (Savior City Witches Book 1) by L. Valente, S. King

The Book
Release Date: 16 March 2018
Goodreads Link

Mixing magic and street smarts, bounty hunter and P.I. Aster Night always gets her man. Except when it comes to...literally getting a man.

Thanks to a curse placed on the Chastity coven centuries ago, she can't get busy with anyone until she marries a man from the sanctimonious, boring, holier-than-thou Koda coven.

Yeah, no thanks.

Instead, she finds a way out of the curse on her own, breaking it with such a bang that she ends up naked with one sexy as sin man and making some major emotional and physical connections with his two, oh-so-alpha clan brothers.

Her love life is looking up, until she's hired to track down a serial killer preying on witches, and learns her three new boyfriends were once romantically involved with one of the victims.

Now, she has to choose--her heart or her career.

Yes, Rake makes her laugh, Finn makes her knees weak, and Damon makes her feel safe in a way she never has before, but these men are too close to her case.

So close she's afraid one of them might become a killer's next victim...

*This WHITE HOT reverse harem paranormal romance series is intended for readers 18 and over. This is a true reverse harem featuring one woman and her three fated mates. M/M/F/M*

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a new genre for the author along with being in the reverse harem trope.

The book has been put together brilliantly, with different covens of witches all able to different things and magics.

We have Aster from the Chastity coven who is feeling the affects of her covens magically imposed chastity for unmarried women.

We also have Finn, Damon and Rake, members of the Koda coven who recently lost their forth, a woman called Cassandra who was recently murdered.

We get to see multiple points of view, from the men, Aster, Raven (Asters cousin) and someone called Kali who is in another coven.

The suspense is great and the book DOES end on a cliff hanger.  I certainly was not ready for the book to finish and could have read on for ages, but i will greatly look forward to what happens next, i can't wait!!

REVIEW - Dirty Little Secret (Forbidden Desires #1) by Kendall Ryan

The Book
Release Date: 14 September 2017
Goodreads Link

The start to a sexy new series from New York Times bestselling author, Kendall Ryan...

She’s much too innocent for me, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting the sweet, young librarian. I’m dominating and possessive, and my control streak runs a mile wide.

The way she looks at me—like I’m one of the heroes in the books she loves, like I’m broken, and she wants to be the one to piece me back together—it only complicates things further. I’m nobody’s hero.

But there’s no denying my tragic past reads like one of her favorite literary classics. It’s raw. Visceral. Captivating. And together, we’re a perfect mess.

How can I resist when the sexual sparks zapping between us set me on fire? The need to control, and claim her force my walls to come tumbling down, but when she learns about my dirty little secret, will my world come crashing down with it?

The story continues in Dirty Little Promise, releasing October 9.

My Review  5 STARS
This is the first book in a trilogy and focuses on librarian Emma Bell and Gavin Kingsley.

Emma and Gavin have almost played tag for a year in a coffee shop before Gavin gives Emma a little test.

The pair have a combustable chemistry and Gavins brothers are awesome.  Cooper is a sweetheart.
Gavin is your alpha male with dominant tendencies and Emma has submissive tendencies, which shows in her past in men.

The book ends on a bit of a cliff hanger and there is also a questions as to who Emma is going to get together with, which brother will she choose.

Lookingforward to see what happens in book two.

REVIEW - Blackmailed by the Beast by Georgia Le Carre

The Book
Release Date: 25 January 2018

Chelsea
When I was a child my favorite fairytale was Beauty And The Beast. I dreamed of sacrificing myself for my father, and bravely going to an enchanted castle to live with the Beast. There I gently kissed the beast and transformed him into a handsome Prince.

Now, I'm an adult, and it appears I have somehow wandered into the enchanted mansion of a beast. He is cold and harsh and cannot be transformed with a gentle kiss, but strangely, I don't want to transform him.
Every single atom in my body, from the tips of my hair to the soles of my feet vibrates, throbs, and calls for my beast to take me ... again and again.

Thorne
Soon the whole world will know my name ... but first I have a distraction to deal with. The matter of a manipulative lying little thief.

When I catch up with her, those bright, scheming eyes try their best to work their magic on me. Somebody should have told Chelsea Appleby no one steals from Thorne Blackmore.

She tells me she will pay me back. She is sorry. She wants more time. The problem is I don't actually need the money back. What I need is to punish her. To possess and own every beautiful inch of her body.

I want to leave my mark on her delicate English skin. Forever.

This is a full length standalone with no cheating and guaranteed HEA. Includes bonus content.

My Review  3 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Although i liked this book its very much a packs all punches book, but i think the author threw too much in there.  We has AI technology, blackmail, abuse survivor, schizophrenic storylines with mummy issues and i'm not sure where the beauty and the beast line comes from.

With Chelsea there are so many issues i'm surprised that the woman is a functioning as she is, i mean so much has happened to her that i/m surprised that she has not fallen apart at the seams.

Thorne is supposed to be the beast, coldhearted and cruel, however he is more softhearted than it would appear.  A techno genius creating AI intelligence by himself, her very quickly turns soft rather than cold, with more suppressive parents involved.

We have part stories from a scorned formed lover who makes a brief appearance before vanishing and other bits pushed in.

This book was just far too messed up for me to give it any more than three stars, but it did taken me along for the messy ride as more and more was poured in.

Not sure i would read this one again.

Can he convince her love is worth the risk?

Josie Wheeler isn’t a risk-taker. She likes her routine running the Morning Jolt cafe. The last risk she took was asking her dreamy friend Calvin out—and that failed miserably. But as her thirtieth birthday gets closer, that routine starts to feel like stagnation.

After his marriage went up in flames, Calvin Monroe knew love wasn’t for him. Since then, every relationship he’s had has been no-strings-attached. But Calvin’s not nearly as commitment-phobic as Josie thinks he is; he just can’t find anyone that measures up to her.

Josie is vibrant, funny, smart—and Calvin’s wanted her since they first met. But he knows he’s not her type. Josie goes for wholesome guys, not divorcees with bad reputations.

An overheard conversation changes everything. Calvin realizes Josie is—was—into him, but he was too dumb to see it. If he can convince her to take another risk on him, he’ll win her heart. So, he makes her an offer she can’t turn down: Two weeks to try out anything she wants in bed.

Josie knows Calvin doesn’t do forever, but she says yes to his proposition, anyway—it might be just what she needs to get him out of her system and her life out of its rut.

What Josie doesn’t expect is their exhilarating chemistry setting the sheets aflame and entangling her wary heart. But when her cafe is threatened, she has to decide what she’s willing to risk for a love beyond her wildest dreams.

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the authors debut book and it really does not disappoint.

Josie and Calvin has fancied each other since they first saw each other, however they have never told one another and have always had other relationships in the way.  It is now near Josie's 30th birthday and things take a dramatic turn.

Josie has split up with her boyfriend and Calvin currently single overhears a conversation that has his mind reeling and possibilities spring up in his mind.

Both characters have really good friends and family that support them and kick their butts when needed, they are also very lovable characters and you will so desperately want them to get together as a couple for a well deserved happy ending.

I will certainly be reading more of this author given the chance.

REVIEW - Baby Daddy by Kendall Ryan

The Book
Release Date: 27 February 2018
Goodreads Link

From New York Times bestselling author, Kendall Ryan, comes a feel-good and sexy new standalone romance.

We met in a trapped elevator.

Emmett was on his way to work, sophisticated and handsome in his tailored suit and tie.

I was on my way to the sperm bank. Awkward, right?

At thirty-five, my life hadn’t taken the path I thought it would and I was tired of waiting—I wanted a baby. And I was ready to take matters into my own hands to make it happen.

After our ill-fated elevator encounter, Emmett insisted on taking me to dinner—he also insisted on something else—that I ditch my plan involving a turkey baster and let him do the job. He would be my baby daddy. He was a wealthy and powerful CEO with little interest in diapers or playdates. And since he didn’t want kids, I’d be on my own once his bun was in my oven, free to go my own way.

But once his baby was inside me, it was like a switch had been flipped, and I got a whole lot more than I ever bargained for.

This full-length standalone contains a hot, swoonworthy hero, lots of playful banter and some hot baby-making! Enjoy.

My Review  5 STARS
This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last.

The chemistry between the two characters, Emmett and Jenna, is hot hot hot and from the first meeting in an elevator there is a spark between them.

Perpetual single ladies man Emmett has never wanted a family whilst he has been the CEO of his company, taking over from his father and seeing his parents failed marriage put him off the whole thing.

Jenna was raised by a single mother and knows she wants a child and that she is strong enough to raise it by herself.  The meeting with Emmett changes the direction of her plans quite considerably.  Instead of meeting the fertility clinic she agrees to go at it the old fashioned way.

Its a really well written book, that keeps you wanting to turn the page hoping that the characters get the happy ever after that they so seem to want, even if at times they have trouble saying it to themselves.

I look forward to reading more from this author.

Once upon a time, there was a young woman whose prince wouldn't see her as a princess.

Madison has tried to be a friend and support to Timothy and his six-year-old daughter ever since his wife died, but she's having trouble not wanting more than that from him. He's everything she wants in a man, but he only looks at her as a friend who helps out with his daughter.

She knows she needs to start thinking of other men, since she can't have the man she wants. She's always been practical, so she makes a plan for moving on. A romantic weekend at a grand wedding in the mountains is the perfect opportunity to have fun and feel desirable again with someone other than Timothy. But always seems to be around, kinder and sexier than ever. Maybe what's practical isn't the way to find her happy ending.

Unveiled is the third novella in the One Fairy Tale Wedding series, in which three friends make a pact to get what they really want during one wedding weekend.

My Review  3 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the last book in the series and focuses on Maddison and Timothy.

Maddison had been hurt opening up her feelings as a teenager so is now much more reserved in showing what she is truly feeling.  Timothy lost his wife 23 months ago and Maddison was one of his wives best friends and after her death, Maddion has helped look after his daughter.

This seemed to be a shorter novella than the other two, but i'm not sure that it captivated me in the same way that the other two did.  Both characters were far too hesitant for far too long with each other and it is only at the wedding where Timothy pushes Maddison does she truly open up to tell him what she wants.

I almost feel that this book was a little bit of a let down to the end of this series.

But it might mean losing him again.

Fifteen years ago, I fell in love with Sayer Wesley. Now I must pay the consequences for falling in love with a con man.

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the concluding part to this duet of books and you must read Constant first in order to know what is happening and some of the background as to how things now are between Caroline (Caro) and Sayer.

There is a wonderful suspense with this book and the mafia play a much bigger role, the setting has also changed from Colorado to DC.  We see a grittier side of things and how much Caroline will go though to save her daughter, we also see the deeper connection Sayer and Caroline have and that it is not an everyday kinda love, but a forever love that can and will withstand everything that is thrown at them.

This book is also told from dual points of view, Caroline and Sayer and we still get the flashbacks in order to understand where things are coming from.

I really loved this book and hope i get the chance to read more from the author.

BLOG TOUR (Review+Excerpt+Giveaway) - Not Quite Crazy (Not Quite #6) by Catherine Bybee

About the Title
Title: Not Quite Crazy
Author: Catherine Bybee
Release Date: March 6, 2018
Publisher: Montlake Romance

Summary
No one drives in New York City. Everyone knows that, including California transplant Rachel Price. But that doesn’t stop her from driving into the city. From Connecticut. Every single morning. Rain or shine…or snow.

When she runs the charismatic and good-looking Jason Fairchild off the road, their immediate spark is met with bad timing. There is also one tiny little detail: Jason is her boss. And a woman as intelligent and dedicated to her career as Rachel knows not to date her boss.

As CEO of a private jet company, Jason Fairchild is more used to flying than driving. But if he hadn’t chosen to drive home one night, he wouldn’t have met the slowest—and most irresistible—driver in the entire metro area. Jason has never had time for love. Or dating. Or really anything that doesn’t involve work. But when he finds out that Rachel is the newest superstar in his marketing department, he can’t help wondering if fate has other plans…

Message From the Author
In Not Quite Crazy, California transplant, Rachel Price, doesn’t understand the ramifications of driving into Manhattan from Connecticut every day; in every type of weather…especially snow. When she runs the charming Jason Fairchild off the road, sparks fly. Too bad Jason is her new boss and dating him is out of the question. Everyone knows it’s occupational suicide to date your boss.

Determined to keep her distance romantically, the two dive into a friendship. It isn’t long before those sparks ignite and neither one of them can deny their attraction. Throw in a teenage ward that Rachel has taken on after the death of her best friend, and biological grandparents that seek custody; and this heart warming love story is bound to whisk you away.

While I was writing Not Quite Crazy I took an impromptu trip to Manhattan last March. I purposely chose a winter month where I might be able to absorb what it felt like to be in the city when snow covered the ground. That might sound silly for those of you who live in the city, but for me, a woman who has lived in Southern California since she was eighteen years old, I had no idea just how snow impacts day to day life.

On the drive in from the airport, I was immediately struck by the bikes chained to posts and buried by snow. I observed a man digging his car out and effectively covering his neighbor’s car in the process. The plows did a great job of clearing the path for those cars actually moving, but did an equally fantastic job of making sure some vehicles couldn’t move for days. Trash piled up on the sidewalks would have to wait to be picked up until the thaw. It was astonishing to see. But the best experience for me, and one that made it into the pages of Not Quite Crazy, came when I took my first ride on the subway. You see, I was on my way uptown, from downtown to meet with my agent. Keep in mind, Manhattan is only five miles long. But it was St. Patrick’s Day and I completely forgot about the parade. I ordered an Uber, as one does, and sat bumper to bumper for nearly two hours. After arriving extremely late to my lunch, my wise and savvy agent gave me the instructions I needed to ride the subway back to my downtown hotel. I’m a grown woman, riding a subway shouldn’t intimidate me… but if I were honest, it did. So, with my purse strapped to my shoulder and zipped on the inside of my jacket, and my eyes wide open, I crowded into the underground train along with just about everyone else in the city.  Street performers jumped onto the car and started singing for change. Tourists chatted enthusiastically while locals looked bored with the whole process.

Rachel, my heroine in Not Quite Crazy is an extension of everyone I know that has lived in California. Here on the west coast we all have cars. We’re in them all the time. Public transportation is a joke when the distance between downtown LA and Orange County is so far away. The concept of always relying on public transportation to get to work every single day isn’t something most Southern Californian’s do. So when Rachel showed up on the page, I made sure she personified my own stubbornness about independently driving to and from wherever she needed to go. Even if it takes her two hours more than it should.

I hope you all enjoy this final chapter in the Not Quite Series and find room on your keeper shelf for Not Quite Crazy

Cheers,
Catherine

NOT QUITE CRAZY Excerpt
Rachel found the stack of mail on the dining room table. She fingered through a few bills and tossed the junk to the side to add to the recycle bin. The box Owen had spoken of didn’t have a mailing label. In fact, all that was written on the plain brown box was her name, her first name.

She peeled away the tape, not knowing what to expect. Once she folded the lid back, she saw a handwritten envelope on top of a white canvas bag. It took a little effort to lift the noisy bag from the box—the sound of metal hitting metal struck her as odd.

Chains.

Chains for the tires on her car.

“Who…?”

She opened the note and a second paper fell out.

Rachel

Thank you for braving this stranger in a storm and keeping me from frostbite. Welcome to Connecticut.

Jason

Below his name was a phone number

Something inside her stomach flipped, the buzz a teenage girl feels when she notices a popular boy watching her from the other side of the classroom. Or maybe she was reading into it. Maybe this was just a thank-you, a friendly gesture from a grateful, stranded traveler.

Her cheeks warmed.

Assuming he gave her a mobile number, Rachel decided to send a text.

Hello Jason. I received your gift. They were incredibly thoughtful. Thank you.

She read her note over, twice, then pressed “Send.” Off it went, in wherever notes went as they traveled faster than Superman in cyberspace.

The phone in her hand buzzed, reminding her she was holding it.

Is this Rachel?

She grinned.

Do you leave gifts on everyone’s doorstep in town?

Dot. Dot. Dot. It is nearly Christmas.

Was he flirting? It had been some time since she’d sent a text to anyone outside of the friend zone, so she couldn’t tell.

So you double as Connecticut’s Santa Claus?

Shhh. Don’t tell anyone. It’s a secret.

Well, he wasn’t not flirting.

I’ll keep my mouth closed on one condition.

Oh? What’s that?

I want to meet Vixen. She’s always been my favorite.

I thought Vixen was a he.

She giggled.

A boy named Vixen. That’s just cruel. Good point. I’ll see what I can do. The team is on a strict curfew until after the holiday.

Rachel found a rolling eye emoji.
