The Darkest Lie (Lords of the Underworld 6) - Gena Showalter

The Book
Release Date: 2 July 2010

In this riveting new installment of New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld series, Gideon, keeper of the Demon of Lies, fights to uncover the truth….

Forced to his knees in agony whenever he speaks the truth, Gideon can recognize any lie—until he captures Scarlet, a demon-possessed immortal who claims to be his long-lost wife. He doesn’t remember the beautiful female, much less wedding — or bedding — her. But he wants to . . . almost as much as he wants her.

But Scarlet is keeper of Nightmares, too dangerous to roam free, and a future with her could mean ultimate ruin. Especially as Gideon’s enemies draw closer . . . and the truth threatens to destroy all he’s come to love . .

My Opinion  5 STARS
Gideon really is a blessedly funny, cute and well... eatable!!

In the latest instalment of the LOTU we had Gideon and Scarlett getting together with more information thrown into the pot from Strider and Amun as characters.

A lot of the other characters only got small mentions in this story and were much more cameo roles. Which was a good thing, as sometimes there are too many characters to keep up with.

We had been introduced to Scarlett in the previous book A Darkest Passion where Scarlett had told Gideon that she was his wife. BUT his demon lies could not tell him if she was telling the truth, or if she lied.

This book gripped you by the (insert what ever most appeals to you personally) and took you along with the ride. It certainly wasn't an awwww cute kinda book. It hard blood violence, misbehaving families along with vengeance and of course our main love story.

So we know from previous novels that Gideon cannot tell a truth without out feeling serious pain from his demon lies. We also find out how bloody funny he is too and how loyal he is to those he loves.

Scarlett is a goddess who has been shunned from her family almost from the time of her birth. Rhea has not been the best mother, Cronus as her step-father hates her and her aunt sides with her mother. Scarlett had a crush on Gideon from the beginning when she was growing up in captivity as a life-long prisoner.

Through this novel we find out the true falsities and truths that have been woven into Scarlets life and how Gideon helps her with the process. We also see Aeron, William and Amun travel through Hell to find and bring back Legion.

Another gripping book, that twists and turns the whole way through.
